São Conrado is one of the prettiest neighborhoods in
Rio. Attractions include a golf green, and upmarket Fashion Mall, with
movie theaters, restaurants and shops selling the most prestigious
labels. São Conrado's Pepino Beach is where hanggliders and paragliders
land. The posh apartments buildings on the beach lane are favorites
among Rio's rich and famous. For contrast, the hills are home to Rocinha
- one of Rio's largest popular communities. On the downside, the beach
is often unsuitable for swimming, and you will depend on taxis to get
around day or night.
Barra is a huge, and very pretty neighborhood. It was designed for
drivers, not pedestrians. Nothing is in a walking distance - the beach
alone is 17 km long! Here is where you find the largest malls,
hypermarkets, theme parks, paintball clubs, theme bars, and resort-style
condos. There's also Riocentro Convention Center, the Rock in Rio site,
the race track, multiplexes cinemas, etc.
There aren't many hotels in Barra, it's mostly apart hotels. These
all-suite properties offer facilities like a pool and sauna. The
apartments range from ensuite rooms like in a hotel, to two-bedroom
units with living room, kitchen and two bathrooms. As most people
staying here bring or rent
a car, a parking spot is part of the deal. There's also a
complimentary breakfast, and daily maid service. All apart hotels listed
here on Av. Sernambetiba, the beach lane.
The best way to avoid the higher rack rates is booking ahead. For
your convenience, request your reservations
online. It's a free service, and you pay directly at the front desk
the discounted rates shown on our pages. Click on the names
of properties for more details, rates, photos, and nearby
attractions. Ask about the discounted monthly rates, and Carnival and New Years'
packages.
